J.D. Salinger, famous "for not being famous", author of the classic (though, controversial) Catcher in the Rye died yesterday at the age of 91 in his home in New Hampshire. Pictured above as young and modest, Salinger had been in seclusion for more than a quarter of his life up until his death, maybe ever earlier.

Banned more than 90 years ago, Absinthe came back to the United States in 2007. Known for its hallucinogenic properties it became illegal all over Europe and the United States, but now someone without any problem can get a bottle of this green liquor.
It was so popular in France among the 1860's that once it turned 5pm, it was called the l'heure verte, which literally means, "the green hour" !

Now, this is pretty exciting for a kid.

The Indie Rock Coloring book by The Yellow Bird Project.

It doesn't get any better than this. A coloring book just for kids that has an interactive and colorful journey of creativity with pages of illustration created by the lovely artist, Andy J. Miller. Andy collaborated with Yellow Bird to create this one of a kind coloring book that brings a unique expression of bands and their creativity. Bands include Broken Social Scene , Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Bon Iver, and even MGMT! You can even turn to the page where you can draw hair on Rilo Kiley! We need more things like this out on our school grounds, it brings a different side of creativity educating them with other new ways of coloring instead of the same boring, Power Rangers and Spongebob coloring books. Lets stop spending our time on TV! Or stop spending time on suspending kids for bringing camping utensils (a "spork" to be exact) to school and spend more time on finding brilliant new creative outlets for our school systems. Oh, and another great thing? Profits will go directly to all the charities that Yellow Bird supports.

And who said it's just for kids? I think I might get one for myself.

Recently, one of my bestest friends, Hilary got engaged and now its time to start looking at dresses and such for the wedding. She is thinking this rich golden saffron color that Michelle Williams wore to the oscars this year. The color is really nice and suits perfect for her June/Summer wedding. I'm just now getting dress ideas, I just saw this Jason Wu dress from his Spring 2010 collection and I'm loving it. Oh, the endless possibilities when it comes to dressing up....

What does Emanuel Ungaro (below, model for Ungaro, Spring 2009) & Lindsay Lohan have in common?
Your guess is as good as mine.
But it seems as if the ex-rehab, once cute actress of The Parent Trap will officially be Ungaro's new "Artistic Advisor"...what ever that might mean.
Ungaro had been disappointed by collaborating with Esteban Cortazar , a Colombian native and the youngest designer who has ever showed at Fashion Week. Ungaro said his collection that he worked with Esteban wasn't getting "enough" press and/or recognition...lets see if Lohan changes that!
We'll see...

Three days ago, I posted about Eunice Kennedy's death....now today, just two weeks after her death, Eunice's brother Ted Kennedy dies of brain cancer. My thoughts are with both of them.

Eunice Kennedy Shriver dies at age 88. Pictured above in 1953, the same year she was married to Robert Sargent Shriver Jr. who founded the Peace Corps, Eunice was part of one of most prominent families of America, the Kennedy's. Founder of Special Olympics, she was extremely active and dedicated tremendous hope and change for many.
