In the 1920's, no one argued against the notion that yacht racing (sailing) was a gentleman's sport, but there was one fine lady who excelled in the sport. And that was Virginie Hériot .
The "grande dame" was so damn good at it that she competed against men in international sailing all over regattas in France, Spain, Italy, and England. In 1928, she defeated the best sailors in the world to take on the Olympic gold metal in Amsterdam. Little Virginie was so passionate into sailing that she wanted "to breathe it into everybody" and "to win ever more hearts to it, that is my goal."
Well, I think you've succeeded Virginie. Thank you.
