Speaking of shoes- Totokaelo (snapshot of store above) just opened up there new storefront in Capitol Hill. They were located in Belltown before, but the new layout is pretty sharp- extremely spacious, I walked in there and thought I had just entered a spaceship. I first noticed their shoe display, there seems to be this trend going on... Another semi-new shop located in the same neighborhood, Kaledoscopic Vision has a very similar-almost identical shoe display-although, I have to say they have been open a bit longer and let me tell you, those girls know how to party! They were servin up the tequila on cinco de mayo- and collecting a random, song-request...it was fantastic + the shop is pretty awesome, lots of treasures in there. Capitol Hill was in need of a place like this- affordable vintage-finds instead of walking into Value Village restraining yourself from the horrible b.o. smell. This type of shoe-shop display, contemporary, clinical, fictive world-inspired retail interior has been around for a while. Remember, contemporary art photographer, Andreas Gursky's, Prada I in 1996? Check it, below.
